Well, you need to do your homework. I saw a post on Alibaba.com and I wish I wrote it but really is the best I have seen on the net about this subject. This guy knows his stuff and it made absolute sense. He called it Ways to self-check your chinese suppliers. Enjoy your read!

  1. isafetrade.com has an inexpensive online service to verify suppliers in China.I use their reports regularly when sourcing from Asia. Their reports let me know if its safe to do business with the supplier in question. They check if the supplier is legally registered , check their export license, website, addresses, phone numbers, association with past scams etc.

I recommend this service to every buyer sourcing from China.I started using them after losing $560 from a fake Chinese supplier who shipped me used pair of shoes.

Often I will use their reports to filter through a large number of suppliers, and then engage a verification agent to vet a one or two suppliers, since verification agents are expensive.

    Their website is http://www.isafetrade.com/verify-supplier-company-check-chinese-business-china-hong-kong-taiwan

They are based in the U.S.
